I do most of my work in ink. This is usually either a fineliner/brush pen, sometimes combined with a grey wash.
- Pens: Pretty much any fineliner will do, but my favourite series is the Uni-ball pin. The most versatile tip size is probably the 03 (3mm), with 01 and 08 sizes to supplement.
- Brush pens: I prefer 'bristle brush' tips such as the Pentel Fude or Pocket Brush, but these are a bit messier/less portable than synthetic brush-shaped/floppy felt-tip pens. Of this latter category, the Pigma Brush is the thinnest (and therefore least rubbish) I've tried.
- Pencils: I use mainly mechanical pencils because they're portable and don't need sharpening. Of these, the Papermate twisty-top ones are my favourite because they are more lightweight than metal framed pencils. I am not a pencil draftsman and if I was, I would not use mechanical pencils.
- Erasers: I don't know what brands I use because I no longer have the packaging, but I always use putty/kneadable erasers. Note that not all of these are 'shaving-less' and it's not always possible to try before you buy, so if you find a good one stick with it.
